Broker's Comments
The East Anglian One Design was designed by Alan Buchanan in 1957 as a commission from a consortium of east coast UK yacht clubs for an inexpensive cruising yacht for four crew that could also be raced competitively. Described by Yachting World as a 'thoroughly sound, straightforward little yacht', these pretty craft have stood the test of time very well and continue to flourish.
This particular example is pretty much original from a construction point of view and has obviously been well maintained by careful owners. She has been modernised over the years with an aluminium rig and has been re-engined with a Volvo which sits neatly under the companionway steps. On deck she's tidy, Harken blocks help with sail handling and her lines lead aft into the cockpit making short handed sailing easy. She's ideal for classic regattas and had an IRC Certificate (0.801 TCF) for 2019
Down below she has a traditional layout for her era. A good sized double berth forward has a custom made extra mattress for comfort. The heads has a slide out basin, cleverly modified to drain straight into the head. There's a good sized storage/wet locker opposite and the saloon has storage throughout, below and behind seating. The saloon table comes out easily and stores away neatly.
All the pleasure of a classic yacht with many modernising features make this a great choice. She's well equipped.
