The seller reports the following; These engines have never left me stranded. They idle well, run cool, and burn the appropriate amount of fuel for the engine size. Since I have owned the boat I have had the risers
and manifolds replaced, rebuilt the heat exchangers, and the ignition systems were rebuilt in 2004. The bottom is checked by a diver every 3 months and zincs replaced as necessary.
The AC/DC panel and all electical within the boat were part of the extensive restoration in 2004.

Carvel planked mahogany forward with red cedar aft. The carvel planks have been routered, cedar strips cut and glued between, faired and painted. Hull is very smooth. Decks are glassed over plywood with non-skid. All exterior wood and painted surfaces have been professionally maintained annually. In 2004 Shipbuilders Co-op in Port Townsend did extensive restoration on this vessel. They replaced planking where needed, sistered frames, made the deck watertight at the bases of the wrap around pulpit. The vessel was then painted after the wood was completely stripped. Today it still looks fresh.

Many yachts of this vintage have considerable amounts of interior wood, making them somewhat dark and oppressive. This beautiful vintage yacht isn’t one of those. Bright interior spaces featuring contemporary color finishes, surfaces, fabrics, floors and headliners along with lots of large opening windows make this lovely vessel feel like an prohibitively expensive modern replica of a classic yacht. She features a large sedan-style salon with cork floors, a down galley to starboard, head to port, master suite directly forward with Pullman berth and a bunk style forward cabin with vanity basin area.
Easily sleeping four, with accommodations for two more in the convertible salon settee there is space for a family aboard. A large covered cockpit provides a roomy area for entertaining, fishing or a crab cooker. As a live-aboard this fine 40 foot yacht could provide a luxury studio size apartment with the Dickenson stove providing heat and cooking as required.
2 burner Diesel cooker/stove

Broker's Comments
If this gorgeous Matthews 40 Sedan Classic Motor Yacht were being presented like an automobile at Barrett-Jackson Auction Company (famous for its Collector Car events) it would be considered a “Resto-Mod”. She has been modified and upgraded tastefully to a level one would expect of a modern yacht and restored as needed at great expense by Port Townsend’s Shipbuilders Co-Op. She is simply beautiful.
If you have any attraction to classic yachts (who doesn't?) this is a boat to admire.
As a live aboard she would make a great luxury studio apartment. As a usable cruising yacht she’s not afraid of the water, having been to Princess Louisa Inlet and other Gulf Island destinations recently. Either way she's a show-stopper. This boat is being offered at a fraction of what has been invested in her since 2004.
This is the 40 foot Matthews that was at The 35th Annual Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival.
